Standard Meshtastic networks rely on a shared channel key — the same key available to every node running that channel. For community mesh networks, that's acceptable. For private family communications, farm operations, or team coordination, it isn't.
Whisperlinx Mesh solves this with a layered encryption architecture that goes beyond what standard Meshtastic provides.
How Whisperlinx encryption works
Every message on a Whisperlinx network passes through two independent AES-256 encryption layers. The Meshtastic transport provides the first layer — standard AES-256 channel encryption that protects your signal from radio-level eavesdropping. Whisperlinx then applies a second, private AES-256 encryption layer using keys that exist exclusively within your appliance ecosystem.
The result: even a node sharing your mesh infrastructure cannot read your communications. Not strangers. Not neighbors. Not anyone outside your Whisperlinx network.
No key management. No configuration. No guesswork.
Your appliance arrives pre-configured with your private encryption keys already in place. Those keys are provisioned by Shielded Signals during setup and never transmitted, stored in the cloud, or shared with any third party. Once provisioned, they never leave your ecosystem.
